Quality. Connection. The Future

Connecting with the future through quality and diversity.

The Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) is Australia's largest aged care programme, with more than 800,000 consumers.  Older people say that it transforms and saves their lives.  The CHSP provides the most flexible and responsible services to older people across Australia, and supports older people to live the way they want - at home, with their families, in their communities, in their own culture.  This is the future for aged care in Australia.

We are thrilled to present You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet! 2020 CHSP Futures Conference. Take advantage of the chance to get inspired, to think outside the box, and to connect with new opportunities. Book your ticket today to make sure your spot is reserved!

Celebrate diversity

5 March 2020

Over lunch we bring you a special pleasure - music from Indonesia, courtesy of the members of EThnic Community Service Cooperative's social support groups.  The Indonesian group will be performing on Angklung, traditional Indonesian instruments made of bamboo tubes.  As we say, the CHSP brings people together, and it doesn't do it any better than through music and culture.

Let's dance!

26 February 2020

No Commonwealth Home Support event is complete without some get up and go.  To stir it up a bit, Beatriz Occhiuzzi, from Salsa for Seniors, will be bringing to our auditorium her mobility program specially designed for older people.  You don't have to get up to get down - she'll be leading us through easy movements that show how we can stay active without leaving our seats.  In the auditorium, just prior to our lead presentation at 9.50am.

Anyone for bingo?

24 February 2020

Due to overwhelming demand, we're pleased to be expanding the conference program.

How do you get a serious message to people who don't normally engage with services?  Margaret Crothers from Seniors Rights Service will be showing us how their Info Bingo helped those harder-to-reach to learn about abuse of older people.

Ada Cheng from Australian Nursing Home Foundation will be giving us insights into innovative approaches to wellness and reablement.

Both presentations are in our third concurrent session.

New conference supporters

17 February 2020

The value of the CHSP is widely recognised.  It's a pleasure to announce new supporters of our conference, two of which are CHSP services.  Canterbury and Ku-ring-gai & Hornsby Meals on Wheels will be tantalising us with their food at lunchtime.  And Australian Ageing Agenda is giving us a promotional boost through their regular publications.  Thanks to all for their valued support.

Announcement of conference associate

12 February 2020

It's a thrill to announce the Australian Association of Gerontology (AAG) as conference associates.  AAG is Australia's peak national body linking professionals working across the multidisciplinary fields of ageing.  Since 1962, they've been promoting an improved experience of ageing through connecting research, policy and practice.  We welcome AAG's experience and breadth to our conference offering.

Exciting additions to our program

6 February 2020

We're delighted to announce two new presentations for our exciting program:

Dr Craig Sinclair from the University of New South Wales Ageing Futures Institute will speak on Supporting older adults in decision-making and care planning in the home care setting (in our second concurrent session).

Ann Mehaffey from Aged and Community Services Australia will give a presentation on 5 Generations in the Workplace, looking at the challenges in the demographic shift which now sees five generations represented in the aged-care workforce (in our first concurrent session).
